Artiste competition / Startissimo ­ the 7th International Variety and Circus Festival Dresden

Dear Sir / Madam,
dear artistes, variety and circus friends,

Andrew Watson (Director of Creation/ Cirque Du Soleil), Cynthia Akanga
(Choreographer), Werner Buss (member of the executive board of the GOP
Enternainment Group), Renate Wasdrack (Casting Director), Arnd Schimkat
(comedian, actor), Julia Trush (Trio Bingo, artist), Sven Daniello
Pawlitschko (comedian & conjurer), Rustam Tsodikov (Artist) and Moritz
Denker (managing director of "think entertainment") will be making guest
appearances at Startissimo ­ the 7th International Variety and Circus
Festival in Dresden from 23rd to 26th April 2009, where they will be acting
as jurors and awarding the prizes in the ³Young Professionals² competition
that will take place alongside the Festival or welcoming those taking part
in their role as Festival Ambassadors.
The competition is aimed at all professional artists aged between 18 and 27
years and promises prize money in excess of 20,000 EUR. The closing date
for applications is 15th January 2009; the nomination of the best 15 acts in
the competition will take place by 15th February 2009.
As well as the competition show in the presence of 1,200 visitors, as part
of a media partnership with the Central German broadcasting corporation MDR
TV the best competitors will perform in a grand TV gala in Dresden on 26th
April 2009.

The City of Dresden can look back on a long tradition of circuses,
particularly as the birthplace of the legendary ³Circus Sarrasani² which is
still remembered today. Startissimo ­ the 7th International Variety and
Circus Festival in Dresden ­ represents a new high point in this tradition,
since from 23rd to 26th April 2009 the world of artistes will be our guests
in Dresden and you too are warmly invited to join them!

We would like to ask you to pass on the information about the festival and

representatives and relevant networks, and to circulate the information
yourselves via your own publications if possible.
